My husband is good at identifying birds and is certain it&#039;s a goldfinch (Carduelis carduelis). I took a few other photographs of the goldfinch that day and in those you can clearly see the yellow on the wings.

I plan to add those images above as well when I get the time (didn&#039;t add them originally as the quality wasn&#039;t too good).

Could it be you are thinking of the American Goldfinch that&#039;s mostly yellow?

After a little research it looks like the UK/European Goldfinch is called a Goldfinch and the American Goldfinch an American Goldfinch. Would have been less confusing to call ours a European Goldfinch I suppose.
