Copied Over the Site With an RSS Feed!
Prior to adding content/images to the site I tested an AdSense plugin (for WordPress) and needed some content, so added an RSS feed from http://bluemoonrising.com/ as a way to quickly add content for the AdSense test.
Got busy with other things and forgot all about the feed (I own a LOT of sites and do a LOT of tests) which regularly updated every time the site updated.
bluemoonrising.com made a DMCA complaint (Digital Millennium Copyright Act) with Google late last month since it was copying their site (which was fair enough, should have deleted the copied stuff after the test).
As soon as I received notification of the problem I removed all the RSS content and added some real content with a plan to add more over time.
Earlier today I received a notice that Jeff (thanks for the heads up) had posted a comment to the site:
Aw, where’d the snowman go.

Went to the site and found the content from http://bluemoonrising.com/ was back again!!
Turns out I’d left a bit of the RSS feed plugin running and just disabling the plugin via the WordPress interface wasn’t enough!
So again deleted the copied content and this time removed the plugin completely. In my haste to put things right I deleted the snowman post!!
Fortunately Google had indexed it and from the Google cache I was able to recover the post and comments.
So all is good in the world again.
The things we do for blogging ![]()
